Here are 5 things about me…

Why I became a Daisy First Aid Trainer….

After having my son, I realised how much there was to worry about as a new parent: Safe sleep as a newborn, choking when weaning, bumping heads and falling when learning to walk, it goes on.

I attended a Daisy First Aid course and even with my medical background I found refreshing myself on these skills so reassuring.

As my background also involves education, I felt that Daisy First Aid would be a perfect fit for me to be able to give other parents confidence and for me to do something that allows flexibility to fit around my family life.

My background/own experience…

I have a 20 year career in cardiology. I began my career in the NHS as a cardiac physiologists performing diagnostic heart teats and then specialising in heart devices. I now work part time for a medical device company who make cardiac devices, my role is to assist in device implants and hospital clinics and a large part of my role is delivering education to healthcare professionals.

I have delivered CPR and defibrillation in the hospital setting but fortunately have not had to use my first aid skills for anything other than a grazed knee outside of the hospital.

What I love about teaching…

Being able to pass on such an important skill, to see people grow in their own self confidence and leave a session feeling reassured that they have the knowledge to deal with a first aid incident, should they ever need to.

My proudest moment…

Giving birth to my son.

Something fun/interesting/ or important about me….

I am a keen snowboarder and cannot wait to get back to the mountains.

What I offer & where…

I run Daisy First Aid Poulton-Le-Fylde, Kirkham and Preston which also covers Blackpool and the surrounding areas.

I offer the following classes; 2 hour parent class in person and live via zoom, e-learning courses, children’s first aid workshops. For childcare providers and schools, I also offer Level 3 Paediatric First Aid certificate which meets Ofsted requirements.
