I’m Abi, the local Daisy First Aid Trainer for Northampton and some of the surrounding areas.

Here are 5 things about me…

Why I became a Daisy First Aid Trainer….

I took a Daisy First Aid class when my daughter was 4 months old, and it was everything that I had hoped for and more!
I knew that the 6 month mark was quickly approaching and that I would soon be embracing the messy weaning stage! Everyone was telling me to enjoy this stage but quite frankly I was terrified!
At this time, I was also thinking already about my return to work after maternity leave and wanted anyone that was looking after my daughter to be equipped in vital life saving skills.
That’s when I booked a home class for myself and immediate family. I felt so empowered after the class and so much more prepared for motherhood knowing that I knew how to react in a life threatening situation!
When my daughter turned one, the opportunity came up to be part of the Daisy First Aid team. I jumped at the chance!
Like so many mums, I felt like my priorities had completely changed. I wanted to be able to work flexibly whilst empowering other parents, like the class had done for me.
Daisy First Aid was the perfect fit around my family!

My background/own experience…

As well as Daisy First Aid, I work part time in a mental health hospital and have been for the past 5 years.
I am definitely kept busy!
I have been fortunate enough to not have needed to use my first aid skills much at all in real-life situations, but have dealt with minor choking, broken bones and seizures.

What I love about teaching…

I am an ex-primary school teacher and have always been passionate about working with others, teaching people new things and seeing that light bulb moment!!
I love delivering classes knowing that I’m giving new parents, expectant parents, grandparents, aunties etc the confidence and piece of mind that they would know what to do if they are faced with an accident or illness. A skill that could potentially be lifesaving.

My proudest moments…

My proudest moment has to be the birth of my child. I will never forget the moment when I held her in my arms for the first time. It is ultimately down to her why I became a Daisy First Aid trainer (another proud moment!)

Something fun/interesting about me…

I love arts, crafts, home interior projects and reading. I am a crazy cat lady!

I am originally from the Lake District but I relocated to Northampton after I met my now husband whilst holidaying in Zante….who says holiday romances don’t last!
