You can’t plan when you’re going to be pregnant and some pregnancy journeys are filled with heartbreak and anxiety so being pregnant at any time of year is a gift. But for some it might seem like unfortunate timing to be pregnant over the festive period and it might feel like you’re going to miss out but we’re here to tell you this is a great time to be pregnant!

Guilt-free naps
Hands up if you enjoy an afternoon nap after Christmas lunch! Imagine being able to have one every day over the festive period without any judgement! In fact, it may be encouraged! Would you get away with that any other time of year?!
Festive food
Okay so the whole ‘eating for two’ thing is actually a myth. You don’t need any additional calories until the third trimester of your pregnancy where you could use around an extra 200 per day. But if you usually enjoy a glass of wine or two you’ll be consuming fewer calories this year so you can definitely reach for the Quality Street tin guilt-free this year!
Saying no!
Do you feel obliged to attend all the Christmas parties when you’re shattered and just want to go home and watch Grey’s Anatomy re-runs in your PJs? (just me?!). Well this year you have the perfect excuse to pick and choose what events you attend without feeling guilty for not going.
Leaving early
The same applies for being able to leave a party early – being able to be honest and say you want your bed will never be frowned upon if you’re pregnant and you can escape the awkward goodbyes and people trying to persuade you to stay!
No hangovers
Maybe you do want to party the night away with your friends or colleagues whilst sipping mocktails. When you’re pregnant you can party into the night and wake up completely hangover free! Winning!
Sale shopping
Grab yourself a baby bargain in the Boxing Day and New Year’s Day sales! Those big ticket items like cots, buggies and car seats will be discounted in the sales so you can make the most of the savings. Christmas is also a great time to pick up some bargains locally for free or cheaply as people are often having a clear out at this time of year so it’s a great time to get your hands on some great pre-loved baby goods too!
