Meet The Trainer – Kirsty in Stirling, Scotland

Our Story

Founded by Jenni Dunman, a former police officer, Daisy First Aid is a family friendly franchise that offers flexible business ownership as part of an amazing, supportive community.

After saving her best friend’s baby from choking in 2012, Jenni has grown Daisy First Aid from a small start-up when her 3 children were babies into a national multi award winning franchise that is accredited by the British Franchise Association.

We have over 120 franchises across the UK and we’d love to have you too!

I’m Kirsty – the local Daisy First Trainer for Stirlingshire, Clackmannanshire, Milngavie and surrounding areas.

Here are 5 things about me…

Why I became a Daisy First Aid Trainer….

Having had a career break to be at home with my own two children, I stumbled across Daisy First Aid. Within a few days I realised this was the perfect opportunity to run my own business, combining my medical and scientific knowledge with a job that would be flexible and rewarding.

My background/own experience…

For 15 years, I worked as a Clinical Scientist specialising in microbiology for the NHS.  Throughout this job I witnessed first-hand how crucial it is to seek appropriate medical attention when it is necessary, and knowing the right time to do this.

A lot of my first aid experience comes from being a mum.  I have two active children and between them I’ve had to deal with a wide variety of first aid emergencies from cuts and grazes to broken bones!

What I love about teaching…

I love being able to share my knowledge of first aid, knowing it could potentially save a life.

I teach in a way where things are kept simple, and relevant to the group I am teaching. I think this really helps reduce peoples’ anxiety around first aid.

Being a mum, I can share my experiences and dramas, and can relate to what new parents are going through.

My proudest moments…

When I get feedback back from parents saying they are feeling much more relaxed and confident about first aid, or indeed, have had to use some of the skills learned, I feel that I have achieved the task I set out to do.

Also, getting feedback from people who have been in the childcare profession for a long time, having done numerous first aid courses over the years, that I had delivered “the best first aid course ever” made me immensely proud!

Something fun/interesting about me…

Despite Florida being a family favourite holiday destination, I have a ridiculous fear of rollercoasters!

My kids very often tell me that a ride is “tame”, I fall for it, go on it … and usually come off having loved it!!  However, there are some rides that no amount of coaxing would get me on them!!
